So I work in a small, rural community where supposedly everyone is about neighbors and helping and christian values. I just got my second call this month from someone who witnessed a crime and doesn't want to testify. This guy actually went so far as to say the victim should pay him for his time 8-D Because he doesn't feel like it, has determined in his expert legal opinion that I do not need his testimony, and thinks it would be a waste of his time.
I had to point out that if someone robbed his house and his neighbor saw, he would probably want the neighbor to testify and be really upset if his neighbor refused. Which he agreed with. But still doesn't understand why he needs to come.
WTF is wrong with people? And I get judged for being the atheist around here.

The religious comments from me are snide. I don't think religion should impact how you treat people, but everyone around here seems to think being Christian makes them morally superior and judges our non religion. Yet, won't help a fellow human being.
