Meet Ben

I feel like a drive-by AW, since I haven't been around much, but I wanted to introduce you all to Benjamin Wyatt.  We weren't expecting him for a few more weeks, but apparently he decided he'd had about enough of listening to me bitch about being pregnant and decided to make an early arrival.     It was the longest quick labor ever - my water broke at 11:30 on Sunday night, I was admitted by 12:30 am, (after driving myself to the hospital and not packing a bag - my denial was strong), had the epi around 1:30, and was fully dilated by 6 am.  Then things stalled, because he wouldn't drop. I ended up pushing for about an hour-and-a-half, then they decided it would be best for a c-section, and he was born at 10:07 am on Monday. We're both doing well - despite being early, he's healthy and perfect and adorable.  And considering I basically gave birth every way possible (the c-section ended up being under general anesthesia, sigh), I am feeling pretty good.

Haha, yeah. Not my brightest move, but it's only a 10 minute drive and my contractions weren't all that bad yet. Once we got there, it was Game On though, so it was a good thing we left when we did. Otherwise, we would have had to wait for either my ILs to get here or a cab, and it would have been awful.

A little of both - my husband had thrown out Wyatt while back, which I vetoed it as a first name but liked as a middle.  When we landed on Benjamin, we had a long conversation around "are we really going to name our kid Ben Wyatt?" And we figured a)not enough people watched that show for it to be that noticeable, and b)even if they did, how often will we use his middle name (aside from yelling it a him when he's in trouble)?  And also-also, if you're going to be named after a tv character, you could do a lot worse than Ben Wyatt.

And thanks everyone! We've made it a full week without doing any significant damage, so we must be getting the hang of this thing.
