4 levels ( including the finished basement). 1 vacuum. However, I basically only use it on the first floor, where it lives (living room, dining, kitchen, office). The other 3 levels usually only get vacuumed by our cleaning lady when she comes every other week. She brings her own vacuum.
We just moved into a 3 level and currently only have one. Once we finish unpacking, I plan to get at least one iRobot for the main floor and keep the Dyson upstairs and bring down when we vacuum. We'll see how that goes...lugging that heavy thing up and down is going to get old fast.
My parent's have 3 for a 2 story. A Dyson on each floor and an iRobot that vacuums the main floor daily.
I use central vac downstairs, and a Dyson is kept and used upstairs. Occasionally I will use the Dyson downstairs, and it stays down there for 1-2 weeks out of sheer laziness from lugging it.
1, traditional two story. We have mostly hard wood floors, so I ditched my upright and bought a canister vac, which is much lighter and more portable. It's a Dyson.
I have one dyson. I use it on the second floor, ont he first floor, and in my fully carpeted and finished basement.
I'm way too cheap to have three dysons. Not to mention, where the eff would I store them? I store the one that I have in the basement because there is no room for it on the first or second floors. But, my house was built in 1940 and lacks in storage.
I have a Dyson and a handheld for furniture/stairs. I just lug it up and down the stairs (also three level). I don't think I'd want another one because I'd have to store it. I'd rather just move it around.
1, 3 levels. It's a Dyson, very lightweight. We also have a hardwood tile Dirt Devil (cheap!) and a handheld Dyson. I already spent enough on these vacuums, I'm not spending any more.
We have two finished levels and a basement. On the 2nd floor we have an upright dyson. On the first floor we have a 2nd upright dyson and a dyson stick vac. In the basement we have an old cheap vacuum.

3 levels- a Dyson, the Dyson stick vac, and we had a Roomba but it broke. We have 2 shedding dogs and 2 small kids, so I keep our floors super clean. I use the Dyson on all 3 floors 2x week and use the stick vac daily.
I have a 4 level split with carpeting on 2 levels. I have a mid priced-Hoover that came with an upright and a canister. We use the canister handheld more regularly and it's easier to tote around. Both are light.
