That thread made me remember - once, we had a rep bring lunch in, and he brought his "famous homedmade asian chicken salad". Yeah - big plastic tub of homemade salad for 20 people.
I thought this was very, very weird since none of us really knew this person. Everyone laughed at me for thinking this was weird.
Who was right?!
FYI, I am still slightly squicked out when I think about that.
One of the people who thought I was being wacky is a self-professed germaphobe. I was like, WTF dude? There's probably cat litter and beard hair in that salad.

Weird.
When I first started at current job, the company was much smaller. Ten people small. We had a lunch where everyone was asked to bring a dish. One person brought a half eaten can of Pringles.

We have a 'who brought that?' policy here, since no one will eat food that was made by the woman who has mice in her kitchen and lets her two dogs pee and poop wherever they want to in her house.

I don't eat food that other people bring in even if I know them. I feel like food tastes like the air inside people's houses and this is never good even if you are a clean freak. I don't like your food air. I like my food air.
This wouldn't be that strange in my office. People bring in food to share all the time. Most of the time it's baked goods or ice cream in freezer. We've done potlucks around here a lot, and sometime people will randomly bring in something for others to try.
Last week the lady in the office across from me made cilantro lime rice in the office kitchen and went around offering some to everyone.

There was a lady at my old job who always ate with her hands (ALWAYS) and she would scoop up her food with her loooong fingernails and then suck and slurp the food out from under her nails at the table. And talk to you while she did it.

Umm, eww! Not only is it not smart to only offer 1 item for everyone to eat, it would make me seriously reconsider working with that company. Are they that destitute that they can’t afford to cater lunch for 20 people?

And you know people are farting all up in their houses so its food air full of farts, so you'd practically be eating out of their asshole. Asshole casserole.

Bringing food to share in the lunch room isn't the same as "lunch will be provided" at a meeting and then bringing in a container of one item.
Unless you run a catering business on the side.
When you promise lunch it needs to be delivered by someone who only does that all day or warn people before so they can bring their own lunch from home.
