Should we change the board name back?

Just wondering what everyone else thinks since there are a lot of renovating questions that also get asked here.

Actually, I think we should go old school and call it Your New Home which was the original title of this board Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy back in the day when all the "life" boards were also on TK.

This isn't exactly what you asked but somewhat related - I don't think we need a separate home and garden main board and then D&R (or whatever it's called!), gardening, etc. buried. I think we should all just post in the home and garden board.

I kind of like that idea. I don't think there would be any objection on real estate since there are a lot of cross-posters and transient visitors. Gardening is pretty small and again, a lot of cross posts. I'll email the mod of cleaning and organizing to see if they would object.

I for one am open to anything, but I think "decorating" on its own kind of diminishes the stuff that people on this board do.

Ooh I voted yes, but I like ditching the subboards and putting it all in home and garden.

Update - the mod over at Cleaning and Organizing is going to float it to them over there to see if they want to merge. If for some reason they don't, I think we can all just start posting in the main area.

Yes I like Decorating and Renovating better. I do a lot of renovating but as of yet not much decorating. : ) I'm a G&L poster and it's always been a slow board. A lot of main posters are D&R regulars as well. Most of the new posts are G&L newbies stopping by to ask "What should I plant here?" or "How did this die?" and then leaving right away. We always have to ask what zone they are in, how much sun the space gets, etc. but they aren't around to respond so the post goes dead. I don't see a big issue with combining with that one.

Real Estate/Buying a Home and Cleaning & Organizing though are a kind of their own animal with regular posters that aren't that same as D&R. I don't want to see FHA loan questions on this board everyday. C&O I guess goes with our occasional cleaning challenges we do on this board so it's up to them if they'd like to combine.

I think we should be the main board and then have gardening and organizing be sub boards. Realty doesn't seem like it really fits. That's more MM.

This sounds good to me. What does RE think of it? They have some pretty specific questions and sometimes repetitive. They may want to continue with a sub-board. C&O seems like it would be an easy fit, but again up to them.

RE is still pretty sluggish, but I think Fox made a good point about the loan questions not being right. I think we should keep it as a sub for now and see how things go.
