Thylane Blondeau the 10 year old French model. Anyone ever hear of her? I came across her again and again I find myself just amazed at her beauty and then feeling weird about it. A 10 year old should be cute, adorable, sweet, not gorgeous and all Vogue-y.
I love the person's comment at the bottom that it's sad when a 10 year old is hotter than you, lol. I was googling hair color pictures and she came up. I actually want to go a little lighter with some highlights on the side just like her hair is. But no way in hell am I taking a pic of a kid to the salon saying "Make me look like her" See, squicky.
the whole "sexualization of children" thing freaks me out
Yup. The conscious choice by some adult to take a little girl and put her in situations/clothing/positions that are obviously and intentionally sexually charged angers me.

I think if anything it highlights how undeveloped and prepubescent the fashion industry likes it models. At 10, I don't know how much you know about acting all indifferent and pouty. She is hopefully just a serious little girl who kind of likes the attention? She makes me think of Dakota Fanning a little when she was younger. Like she knew things I didn't or Jodie Foster even. Serious kids with mature faces.
I read in an article that the pic with her on the couch in heels was a spread for French Vogue about the oversexualization of girls, and the shoot had two other girls dressed up too. From what I gather, the initial publishing was supposed to be ironic.
I don't see the bead that picture as that sexual. I think it's just an american thing to find any implied nudity as always sexual. The only one I found to be distasteful is the one of her on the couch in heels.
She's a beautiful girl but there are a lot of girls just as beautiful, including children of a similar age of women here on this board (and I'd say Kiddo before DD2 cut her hair. She's still adorable but now she's adorable with a short bob instead of long pretty hair.) She's French, she's stunning and she's being professionally styled and photographed, and provocatively posed...the last of which is what is making her "gorgeous" and "stunning" rather than simply a beautiful child.
As lissaholly said, it says a lot about how the fashion industry is geared toward prepubescent girls. A lot of them aren't making it past 18-20 nowadays.

I agree. I don't want to take away from her beauty - she is beautiful. But if you put her in normal clothes and kid situations and, as Melinda said, brushed her hair, I don't think she'd come across as quite so stunning.
Professional photographers can work wonders! Even on beautiful people.
