Talk to me about changing your residency

We're PCSing back to the states (a swing state to be exact) in a few months and I think I want to change my residency when we get there. I get that there's a few things I have to do to make this happen, but there aren't really any repercussions I need to know about, military wise, right? Or are there?

I would just consider any state tax implications. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

This is where I was getting confused! And new state doesn't have state income taxes so it's really a win/win! I'm curious to see which way it swings in this election but will do my part to help!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you officially change your state of residency? A new license and what else?

I'm pretty sure registering your car in the new state changes your residency as well.

For tax purposes I always asked where they are registered to vote. Things like car registrations may or may not determine residency, it just depends.
