I tried to be realistic as well, and I got $195,000/year. This is very much achievable for us, but I'm not living this "dream" life now and we don't make too much less than that. I think my calculated dream income = no savings other than retirement.
$300,000 isn't realistic for the condo in the city I want
Yeah, some of those estimates seemed really low. Our condo in the city was >$200K, and it's just Atlanta (and not even in Midtown, which is quite a bit more expensive).

Is $1.2M even realistic for a beach house?
I think so, based on casual looking at those real estate magazines. They just won't be big.
and yeah, I chose our second house to be a $300,000 condo but thats probably wrong bc I want our second apt to be in Manhattan.
$90k a year. I definitely kept it simple, though I did include more money for travel. It will be years before we're making that as a household income, but it's nice to have a goal.
When I did it for my dream life it came out to $379. A girl can dream.

I ended up going more by $ amount than description. But mine is, also, fictional because I do not live in a 1.2mil condo.

I'm surprised I'm only at $185k/year. I think it helps that I chose cabin in the mountains and not going all-out for parents' assisted living, along with only one child. But I did pick travel to Europe twice a year, which would certainly be nice!

365k/year. This made me laugh. I chose super high end stuff just for kicks. We only make about 70k less than the "dream" number and have no where close to what they say that number can get you.
$228,050/yr. I voted that we would have two kids with a nanny (30kyr) but really we will just be supporting my mom which is significantly less than 30k/yr. To make up for the difference, I said we wouldn't need to take care of my parents, but I bet that isn't true. Taking care of aging parents is one of my biggest fears.
I went through and was semi-realistic with my choices the first time and it actually came out about on par with what we currently make/expect to make. Second time through being more fantasy/dreaming, was significantly more.
But I kind of distrust the costs a little bit, because my dream beach vacation home would be in small town Oregon Coast and smallish, and wouldn't cost $1.2 million. And my dream waterfront home here in the Puget Sound would likely cost well above $1.2 million. Also, I'm not sure why the asked about homes at the beginning and then again at the end with regards to retirement. I don't really plan on changing that much about my primary residence when I retire, except to eventually plan for an assisted living community, and by then I expect I'll have given up most travel.
I got $180,608. That includes a primary home @ $300K, a $100k vacation home, paying for some college for kiddo, a $40K car every 3 years and moderate travel both before and during retirement.
This calculator is a lying liar who lies. This includes my house on the beach, a cabin in the mountains, a condo in the city, $8k/year on clothes, lots of vacations, fine restaurants, a private education, and a mercedes.
We don't make too far from that now and we don't have 99% of those things.
I need to go home and tell DH that clearly we are doing something wrong. Ima tell that motherfucker to start ponying up some moolah.
It wouldn't let me choose more than 2 cars which we already have more than. We want 8-10 exotic cars and homes on the beach are $7-10 mil and more here.

I got $179k/year which seems a little steep considering I didn't pick any outlandish options.
But the questions were weird anyway, I mean there's no option to travel domestically more than twice a year. Apparently if you do travel multiple times, you only go to exotic locations.

I got $201,475...more than double our current HHI. I guess we better get moving on higher paying jobs if we want a vacation home, lots of traveling, and a nanny for our as yet nonexistent kid!
I got $446,550. I chose the beachfront property as a vacation home as well as my main property (because they didn't have a condo in the city for $1.2 million). I'll pay for my 2 kids' private education, will get 2 $60K+ cars, have a $30K nanny, take vacations.
