My husband and I would like to stay at an AI in November. We have been looking at Cabo or RM. We are mainly looking to relax but would like some options for activities. We are hoping for warm weather. Which would you pick? Any resort recommendations? Thanks!
I've been to Cabo a ton and Cancun once. As far as Cabo goes it really is not an AI kind of town. They have them but there is soo much to do and good food to be had that I always tell people to stay away from the AI's. The downside of Cabo is that not all of the beaches are swimmable. Most of the resorts sit on beaches that you can't even get in the water at all due to the under tow. That being said there are a few hotels on the main swimming beach called "El Medano" which are walkable to all the bars and restaurants. Plus there are restaurants on the beach right in front of these hotels.
If you want to really do Cabo I would look into the Pueblo Bonito Properties. www.PuebloBonito.com. They have 3 properties in the area that are very nice.
The Rose and Blanco are right next door to each other on the main swimming beach and the Sunset Beach is on the other side of town and not on a swimming beach. The Sunset Beach though is a newer property and is beautiful. Every room has a ocean view and there are a ton of pools whereas at the Rose and Blanco you may not get a view and they each only have one pool. The good part about this hotel chain is that when you stay at one, you can use the amenities of the other hotels, etc.. So you can stay at the Sunset Beach and then take the free shuttle over to the Rose when you want to go to the beach bars or eat out in town.
If you decide on Cabo I have a ton more info. I could give you. I own a timeshare there and have been going down for 10 years.
As far as Cancun goes, I was only there for 3 days and two nights in an AI. It was fine (the food was nothing special) but I really didn't like the downtown area for some reason. Also, we couldn't swim off of the beach in front of our hotel because the seaweed was soo thick. I would check out the boards on trip advisor to find out more info on both locations as well.

I went to Tulum (near playa) last nov and it was hot and spectacular. Dreams was the first AI I ever stayed at and it was pretty nice! lots to see and amazing beaches. Ruins, caves, eco tours.

I loved Secrets Maroma in RM, we went last July. Perfect white sand beaches, crystal clear water. I think not being able to get in the water in Cabo is a big turn off for me
