Hi all! Quick intro - my H and I just bought a house that needs a ton of (cosmetic) work. I've been lurking on here the last few weeks and you all seem to have such great knowledge and ideas!
I wanted to see if anyone has experience with paint matching. We've selected paint colors from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. Our painter gets a big discount at Kelly Moore (which he passes on to us, no mark up) and he says they can match any color we want. Has anyone done this? I'd like to take advantage of a great deal, but I'm pretty committed to the specific colors we chose. I'd hate for them to be a hair or two off, I just know it would bug me.
Is paint matching pretty foolproof/reliable? Thanks!!

It depends on the people doing the matching.
If they just go by formulas in their computer, and their machine isn't calibrated correctly it will be slightly off, but from my experience, most people will take the time to tweak it and get it right. Let them know if it isn't exactly right.

Thank you! Dumb question but, would I put a swatch of the "matched" color on the wall first, see how it compared to the "real" color, and then have them adjust as needed?
Do you have samples of the colors that you want matched, or the color chips. They will match it to either one of those, or to something that the colors have been painted on, like a board or stir stick.

I do have samples. I'll get a neutral base and paint them on an sample board. Thank you!!! ?
