So my mother just had a freak out in the driveway because of an itty bitty snake. I think she scared the poor little snake with all her shrieking. 2 of the cats are guarding the living room and watching for the snake. Its a pretty harmless one- just about 3 feet long and its a gopher snake so its not poisonous.

PDQ.
I finally had my review today. I'm not particularly excited about the role she wants me to play even though we discussed what I wanted to do. But ultimately, I did get a raise, but I don't think my pay is fair given my experience (5 years in the field, one with a major site) and academic background (B.S. and M.A. in the field). She said it non-negotiable and fed me a bunch of stuff about how great the insurance is. So I make as much as my coworker who just graduated from college with a B.S. in the field and has 1 year experience under her belt and I make the same as my coworker who has no degrees in the field and 3 months of prior experience in our area. I think I am going to leave soon. I can make more temping and have a 9-5 M-F job. I plan to contact the temp company on Monday.
I'd encourage you to leave Glitzy! The reason employers can get away with paying people below their value is because people let them get away with it. It used to be because jobs were so scarce, but the mentality just hasn't changed even though jobs are bouncing back.
I have a number in my head that I am going to ask for at my review this month. If they can't give it to me, I will be looking elsewhere. Sorry, not sorry. I can make what I am making doing mindless work anywhere, so if I can't be somewhere that will recognize that I am worth more, I will keep looking for something better.

Here is a job question for you: my coworker told me about a job she's interviewing for on Monday. The job is still showing online for applicants to apply. Am I an asshole if I apply?
liubot, I'm sorry you're going through this stuff and he is causing issues with S. He's responsible for CS and he needs to do the right thing. From what you've said, he's not very adult-like or responsible. I wish you all the best with getting full custody.

Not an asshole. It seems like you're not getting treated right there. Every woman for herself!! Apply.
I use cover letters when they are specifically requested; I've actually come across job postings that state that they will automatically toss your resume if you include a cover letter. I've also had an HR manager for L-3 look over my resume and she says it is fine. The few recruiters who have reviewed it said that there is nothing wrong with it so I'm a bit perplexed as to what needs to be changed.
One thing I did do was change my last name to an initial and I removed my college graduation year and that got me 1 interview and 2 recruiters contacting me after no nibbles in 3+ months.
I'm sorry you're still struggling too. It's ridiculous.
The part about being perplexed...I feel this way too! So many people tell me my resume is great and I have great qualifications and experience. So.... What's the issue?!? It's so frustrating! I'm at the point where I will take a job anywhere, in any part of the world. Lol

My vacation is coming to a close, and I don't wanna leave!
I start a new job on Monday, and I am officially terrified. I haven't done this in 11 years. I hope this is the right move. I hope I do well there. I hope people like me. What if no one likes me?!?!?!
