H is in the interview process for a new gig and they've asked for a portfolio and writing sample. He does computer work that results maps. How many should he include? 4 plus the writing sample? He's sending a research paper that also includes maps as the sample.
I'm a teacher, so I feel like what I take to an interview is a little different. I usually take an entire unit, including assessments, activities, writing assignments, everything i would need to give someone else if they were to teach my unit.
However, I would assume include enough to showcase a variety of work/skills. You dont want 3 of the same or very similar things. I don't think I would focus on a set number. Obviously, pick ones that represent his best work. Quality and variety Would be much more important that quantity I would think.
He's gung ho to send everything he's ever done and I'm trying to talk him down, lol. He does a wide array of stuff in his current position and needs boundaries! I think I'll suggest sending 3-4 items that have varied scopes appropriate to the work he'd be doing.
