How was everyone's weekend? Friday I went out for some sushi which was awesome. Then Saturday I picked up with my childhood friend, her husband and two kids from the apartment they were staying in. She had been meeting up with another childhood friend of her's from the UK who was in the states for holiday. We managed to cram all their stuff into my trunk and we headed off to the aquarium. I had never met her children in person before so it took Lucian and Aila some time to warm up to me. By the end of the weekend we were good friends.
The kids seemed to love the aquarium and after spending a few hours there we got some lunch from the grilled cheese truck outside. It was nice sitting outside while we ate after which we had to hustle back to the car to get to my house so the kids could nap. It was so great catching up and though we don't talk all the time, whenever we do it's like picking right back up where we left off. For dinner I took them to the Lobster Claw which is a clam shack type place in Reading as they hadn't had any seafood yet during their stay.
Then we got the kids back home for bed and we enjoyed some wine out on the deck until it got too dark to stay out. H wasn't able to do much visiting as he was working the close shift and had gym plans in the AM. I brought them to the airport sunday morning and though it was a really short visit, it really was lovely to see her again. We've determined not to wait another 4 years to visit again.
We never did go to the North End after the aquarium as we had to get the kids down for naps but hopefully next time we can do more touristy stuff.

elfinia7, I'm glad you had such a nice time with your friend and her family. Too bad about missing out on the cannolis, though. caligirl, sounds like a great weekend! And RockNVoll, congrats on the tournament win!
My mom, brother, and SIL came up on Saturday afternoon to coo over my baby "celebrate my birthday". My SIL hadn't met Ben yet, so I was glad she was feeling well enough to make it this time. She & my brother are expecting and due in December, so they're getting some good practice in before he/she shows up. Saturday night, my husband and I grilled some steaks and drank some champagne, then sat out in the backyard enjoying the nice weather, which totally salvaged the day. (I love my family, but they are in.tense. And I really didn't want them there, but the argument I would have had to have if I fought them coming wasn't worth it. Certainly not how I would have said I'd celebrate my 40th if you'd asked me a year ago, heh.)
Sunday we did nothing. Monday too. But yesterday, my 3 BFFs from high school came to visit, and they showed up with a giant bag of groceries for us, a toy for Jack, and tons of presents for Ben. They visited with Ben and my husband for a while, then we ducked out for lunch. I hadn't seen them since before I was pregnant, so it was great to catch up, and even better to leave the house for something besides a doctor's appointment.
