I get pretty bad flare ups of cystic acne; I'll be fine for awhile and then all of a sudden i get a huge cyst on my face that is there for months and leaves a scar. It sucks.
For the past year I've been using MAC, but recently, even with primer, it oxidizes on my skin and by the end of the day I have blotches of orange foundation on my cheeks and nowhere else.
I ran out of the MAC, and am looking to switch to a new brand that has better staying power. My derm said mineral makeup is bad for cystic acne, and I don't really like the way it looks anyway.
Any recs for a good concealer or foundation with decent coverage that might not make me break out? I'm open to all suggestions, have access to all makeup counters, but our Sephora is run by 12 year olds so they are no help.
NARS Sheer glow as good coverage, and I wore a lot when my face was haivng more break outs. Was great, because it looked like skin (people would say how nice my skin was looking lol), not foundation.
Also good was MUFE MatVelvet (the HD version never lasted on me).
For powder foundations, if you're going to avoid mineral ones (though I think that's a pretty big generalization to say they're all bad, but I understand where he's coming from), then I really like dolce & gabbana's (yeah, I know). Their liquid foundation is also great.
There's something in it to help keep your skin clear. It's light, and my skin still feels fresh when I wear it. I usually do a light dusting of mineral powder, or pale yellow powder over it.
I'm a fan of the Urban Decay Naked Skin, but I don't have cystic acne problems, so I couldn't speak to how your skin might respond to it. I will say that it has excellent staying power and that it's one of the few liquid foundations I've ever used that doesn't oxidize on me.
