Gah. I can't stop eating. How do you handle this? I just had some almonds, and I'm feeling very unsatisfied. Because what I actually want is chocolate chip cookies.
I get ravenous the week before my period. Its for a reason. So I eat some the junk I crave and try to throw in some healthier stuff here and there, then return to less shitty eating during/after my period.
Trader Joe's has some Dark Chocolate with almond bars that have no soy and not a lot of sugar. They're usually by the registers. I break off a square or two (or three on bad days!) and it hits the spot. If you have no TJs, Black & Green dark chocolate bars are good too. I go for the highest chocolate content and it's so rich.

I eat a little bit of what I'm actually craving. Otherwise, I just wind up horribly disappointed and grouchy or overeat because I eat the substitute and then eat the good stuff anyway because I'm unsatisfied.
I make these "healthy" cookies. They have the "paleo" (kinda paleo) chocolate chips in them and the honey makes them sweet. It calls for 1/2 cup honey but I find that is VERY sweet (and I LOVE sweets), so I usually do 1/4 cup instead.
ETA: it calls to add walnuts or whatever to them. I add the "enjoy life" brand chocolate chips to them instead.
I'm going through this right now. I brought a healthy breakfast to work and then stopped and got a huge blueberry muffin instead. I just try to make sure my workouts are a little tougher to try to counteract the extra calories. But I feel like resistance is futile when it comes to period cravings. :-)

yep. if I don't give in to my craving it doesn't go away and then I just end up eating all the stuff I didn't want trying to avoid it and then caving to it anyway.
Honestly? I give myself a little leeway during the few days before and during my period. It helps me feel better (comfort food for the win). It's basically the only time I crave chocolate now anyway so I just have it but try not to go overboard.
When I'm craving chocolate, I will have a square of super dark chocolate - the highest cocoa content I can find. It satisfies my craving and I only want a tiny amount.
When I'm craving chips, all bets are off. Just gimme the damn bag of Fritos.
