Ugh. DD was sent home from school late this afternoon with a fever and is not allowed to go to school tomorrow, and we have an IUI scheduled for 9:45 AM tomorrow an hour+ from home. Our babysitter was just dismissed from the kids' school and we don't want to use her again until we know why. I'm checking with a teacher friend to see if she can come babysit tomorrow, but if not I guess we'll just have to take the twins with us. Hopefully a TV show on the kindle can keep them occupied while we do the IUI. I feel so bad about taking kids in to a RE's office, though.
This is one of those times that I really wish we had family nearby!!
I'm sorry that really sucks weekday sitters are hard to find. Do you have any SAHM friends? My RE has a strict no kids policy so in your situation we'd probably take turns going in to the office alone since we have to wait an hour for the specimen to be prepped.
Oh no, I'm so sorry! We were told absolutely no kids last time, so I went alone, and then there was a kid there, on a Sunday. Derp. I hope you have a miracle come through!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Oh crap. If I was local (and done with school ) I would totally help you out. We had to do some crazy childcare for our first ivf cycle. I hope you find a solution. Good luck.
That is so frustrating! I'm so sorry! I hope it worked out for you. We have family near by but we have had to scramble to get a babysitter a couple of times.

Thanks, everyone. We made it work. Our teacher friend isn't out for the summer yet, so we took the kids with us. I'd seen kids at the RE's office before (MANY times), so I was surprised when I asked if they could come into the waiting room and the front desk person pretty much said no. I guess the other people didn't ask in advance?
DW stood outside in the hall with the kids until we were called back to the room, at which point we all went back. The kids didn't want anything to do with the TV show I'd downloaded to the kindle (what?!), but we kept them occupied well enough until the actual IUI.
Despite sitting them in a chair facing away from the table, curiosity got the best of DD and she got up out of the chair and looked towards me. I had a paper sheet covering me, but she could tell the RE and DW were messing around down there. Later in the day, DD asked me "what did Mama put in you?" I just about fell over and awkwardly stammered something about how I'll tell her when she's older. Ugh.
So it wasn't the best, but I'm telling myself it will make for a good story about how they were both there for their sibling's conception.

haha good job. you're more ambitious than me. I just went solo
Oh, yeah, DW is VERY serious about having a hand in IUIs by pushing the plunger. To the extent that we would have had to cancel the cycle if she couldn't do it for some reason.
DD was present for one of my IUIs. I thought it would have been funny to tell her that she was in the room when her sibling was conceived, but it didn't work out. luckily both of my REs allowed children.

DD came in with us for the IUI procedure. However, H kept her in the car until I was called back and prepped. Then he snuck her into the office and right into the room I was in. Glad it all worked out. Fingers crossed!
