DD will be a week shy of a year old when we make a 6.5 trip (likely longer with summer traffic). Right now she's in a Britax B-Safe and tolerates it fairly well... She'll sleep for a couple hours and then will be entertained by me sitting in the back with her for a couple more hours before she starts to really freak.
We are going to get her a Clek Fllo, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do it before or after our trip. I'm nervous she won't sleep well in it. She just seems more snuggled in the bucket seat which seems easier for sleeping, but I don't think she likes feeling so constrained after awhile. She's also started arching her back and going stiff when I try to put her in it, which is also maybe a sign that she's over the bucket? Lol.
We just did a 10 hour trip and switched DD to the convertible for it. she was much happier than the 2 hour trip we took a couple weeks before. I think she can see more and there is more padding. She seemed to sleep longer. We did try it out a week before we left to make sure she liked it better. She was too heavy for me to easily lift into the truck, so the convenience of the bucket didn't matter to me.

The convertible seems more comfortable for my son, but he doesn't sleep as much in it as the bucket. He can see so much more now, and he's a people-watcher/super observant type of person like his father, so he spends car rides watching the trucks, trains, trees, sky, etc. But, he's generally a very good passenger for the first 2 hours. Then he needs to get out and stretch a bit.
Cool, thanks guys! I'm super excited and have just ordered the Fllo. Annnd I got it in bright pink. All our baby gear is gender neutral from being Team Green, and I usually prefer it that way, but the pink is so cute. And DD will rise in this thing for like ever.
We leave the bucket in the car, so we won't miss having her sit in it out and about. We will miss being able to put the seat in both cars easily A LOT. That's gonna suck.
