E will be 14 mos. very soon, and I'm lucky to get about 10 seconds of brushing in. She likes to chomp down on the brush, and I haven't fought her much to this point, in part because she only has a few teeth that have come in fully and I don't want to make this a battle/struggle so early. H isn't home at bedtime, so I can't get any help.
Also, she still nurses and goes straight to bed from there. She's awake, but we're not going from nursing to teeth to bed.
I actually thought I was ahead of the game or at least on track when I bought her a toothbrush a couple months ago and had her tolerating even the smallest amount of brushing. Now, I feel like I need to focus on this a lot more. Oy.
Brushing is 60-90 seconds I'm guessing. She brushes, DH or myself brushes and then she brushes again. Sometimes we brush after nursing but usually we nurse after brushing and before bed.

DD is 16 months. Most of the time, I try to brush her teeth for about 2 minutes - meaning, I attempt for 2 minutes, but only get maybe 30 seconds of brushing in total. But using the electric toothbrush tonight, I was able to brush her teeth for a lot longer.
I've never brushed her teeth after nursing. I've heard (although I have no idea if it's true) that the antibacterial properties of breastmilk mean you don't need to worry about brushing afterwards.
