When we moved into our house I decided I wanted a vanity, and I've enjoyed having it. It's just nice to sit down to my dedicated makeup area and play with my makeup!
BTW, your bedroom is beautiful. It looks like a fancy B&B.

I bought a desk and use it as a makeup vanity (note: the ugly white shelf to the left of the desk is temporary, lol):
I LOVE doing my makeup in my bedroom. The lighting is wonderful in the morning, but I also have my close-up lighted mirror that I use in conjunction with natural lighting. At night I was my face in the bathroom, but then do my skincare routine at my desk. My makeup is stored away in the drawers, although now I have a spinning brush holder on the top and an acrylic divider for skincare. I also bought the plastic piece that people put under office desks and put it under the makeup desk for easy clean up if something falls.
As far as washing my hands, I bought some cheap washcloths that I keep in the middle drawer and I wipe my hands on a washcloth as I go about my routine, but really I mainly use it after I apply foundation. For most everything else I use brushes. Each week when I do laundry I just wash the cloths with the towels.

I like being able to sit down. Not having the make up in the bathroom where the temperature and humidity changes. I could never store the amount of make up I have in the bathroom. Lol. I like pulling the drawers out and seeing it all.
I would LOVE to have a MU vanity. Even with redoing our bathroom, I don't think I'll have room. The lighting in our bathroom is great. Our bedroom? Sucks.
I say if you have the room & lighting, go for it. I'm not very water centric with makeup. A damp towel would work for me.

Go for it! I have mine set up in front of a window so I love the natural daylight, then I have a light for doing it when it is dark outside! I feel like I do a better job when I can sit down! Our bathroom is just a few feet away in our bedroom so I don't have to leave the bedroom when getting ready! Post pics after you get it all set up!
I tried it a couple of years ago and realized I don't like sitting to put my makeup on. I'm tall, so I think it makes it more awkward. Also, I wear glasses and need to be pretty close to the mirror and that's impossible when I'm sitting down. I didn't like not having access to water, but it sounds like you're reasonably close. I do love the set you have picked out, you have impeccable taste.
Late to the party but I have my grandmother's vanity in my bedroom. I love it. I love the ritual of sitting down to do my make-up each morning. It's soothing to me and it may seem silly but makes me feel close to my grandma knowing she sat at that vanity back in the 40s slathering on her Merle Norman
I do keep a pack of baby wipes in the drawer to clean off my hands or brushes. I find one is enough to clean my hands and any brushes I use daily.
