H and I have gone to the fireworks in Boston every year for the past decade or more (lost track of how many!). I'm kind of sad we won't be making the trek in this year, although it is for a good reason. we might try to either watch from a distance or see if there are any local, suburban fireworks displays we can go see easily with the baby. If anyone has suggestions of local ones that aren't too crowded or crazy, I'd appreciate it!

We are going to some fireworks on the 3rd. And I'm running a 10k the morning of the 4th. That's about all we have for plans at the moment. We are gone the following weekend and have been gone 3 out of 4 weekends this month so probably just doing some stuff around the house and yard. We need to tear down our pool so that will probably happen as well. Super exciting people over here.
Our town does fireworks on the 3rd. A friend of ours lives a few houses down from the site, and she throws a party before and after every year. We'll head over around dinnertime, hang out for a few hours, then walk over to see the fireworks. DH will be away, so it will be a great time for DD and I to be social
Not sure about the 4th. Our town has a parade, and I think DD can ride her bike in it. She won 2nd prize in a decorating contest on Saturday. It starts at 10 so it would be a good way to spend a lazy morning and then head over.

There's a list of all the fireworks in the area here. We were thinking about maybe going to the ones at the lake in Wakefield, but it's going to depend on how Captain Crankypants is doing that day. I have no idea how crowded they get, though.
We watch the fireworks in Acton at Nara Park (this year on 7/3). There is a Beatles tribute band that plays until the fireworks go off around 9:30. It's fun, VERY family friendly, and the worst part is mass exodus at the end of the show, but not so bad if you expect it.
I'm going to my parents house in CT with the kids. DH has to work most of the weekend. No fireworks for us, as it's too complicated with the kids at this age. We're going to go to the pool/beach and then just bbq and hang out.
Going camping in the raaaaaain I really hope the weather improves. We're supposed to leave tomorrow, but may delay a day to miss the worst of the t-storms.

We're having a BBQ on Saturday. I fly home from CA on Wednesday night so I'm not sure why I thought having 25 people over two days after I come home would be a good idea. ?

I had a 3yo birthday party the day before my husband left on a 3w work trip, so I'm right there with you.
noodleoo, if you're still interested in watching the Boston fireworks but don't want to deal with the crowds at the Esplanade, another great place to watch them is from Telegraph Hill in Southie. (As long as the weather is good...it's the highest point in the city and a couple people were struck by lightning when I was there a few years ago during a big storm on the Fourth.)
We don't have any definite plans yet. We usually just go out to eat and stroll over to the Esplanade right before the fireworks start; we'll probably do the same this year.
Thurs night we are doing the Worcester fireworks. My work sets up a family area with free parking, kids activities , etc. Got headphones for my little guy who was afraid before of fireworks.
Fri I am headed to South Shore for weekend. Going to aunt and cousins for the beach, and my 17 yo cousin will help me with the boys. Pizza for dinner and staying at my mom's.
Sat we are doing the Hingham parade and maybe beach or my mom's pool.

5kcandlesinthewind and mswax thanks so much for posting the fireworks list and about Acton. I was looking for something quality to do on the 3rd. We're being terrible parents on the actual 4th and dropping our daughter at my aunt's house first thing in the morning and heading up to Saratoga for a Dave Matthews concert. She'll go to the local parade w/ my aunt and her cousins.
Sorry I missed this noodleoo! I would have told you you could have gone to Wakefield on the 4th for local fireworks. They do a pretty awesome show over the lake. Or you could go to the library roof at Tufts University and you can see the Boston show from there. Hopefully you found some place good to go!
