It did for us. We came home from the park on a Sunay and he laid against me on the couch and passed out. When he woke up he had a fever. No other symptoms until several days later when he got the blisters.
Fever and general sad panda behavior here, but he was also super congested so I took him to the doc the next day for what I thought was a sinus infection. The pedi found small sores in his mouth as part of the exam

Yes. For DD it was a single puke in the morning, slight fever that afternoon, gone by the next morning. A rash on her bum and a spot on one of her heels showed up the next day. Thankfully that's all she had! Cleared up in a few days.
For us, she had a minor fever for one evening, along with one or two little blister-like things that I optimistically thought were bug bites or whatever. They next day, the fever was fine, but the spots were everywhere. It wasn't too bad of an illness for us, in terms of fussiness/misery. It just looked bad and the blisters left marks for a long time.
Fever and fussies first for us. Lack of appetite. Fever around 101. Once the sores broke out, he felt much better, but looked like hell, so we stayed home.
DD woke with a really high fever (104) and vomited several times. Sores appeared 2 days later in mouth only. DS had a low grade fever and spots showed 2 days later all over his body. They did not have it at the same time and when DS came down with it last year, DD did not get it again.
Unfortunately, almost every kid in their classes came down with it.
