Blue Ridge GA has great hiking. It is the beginning of the Appalachian Trail and beautiful waterfalls. We stayed in a cabin with a jacuzzi in the living room which was fun for the sex having. Let me know if you're interested and I'll dig up the name of the place.
I was going to suggest a room or cabin through Ravenwood Castle, in Hocking Hills. It's my goal to stay at that castle before we leave Ohio.
We have "our" place at HH, if we end up going there. We've been there three times and stayed in the same place each time. We've never been to the castle - can you just go and see it or do you have to stay?
I've never been, so I'm not sure if you can tour it, but you can eat there. Their website says they have a "Great Hall" dinner, but it needs reservations.
Their website says they have a murder mystery weekend in September.
Ohiopyle area of PA? Maybe stay at Nemacolin, or 7 Springs, or rent a cabin. Beautiful mountains, white water rafting. We went to Fallingwater in the fall and it was just gorgeous. Kentuck Knob is a cool tour, too.

Brown County State Park in Indiana is gorgeous and only about 2.5 hours from Dayton and has lots of trails and scenic overlooks. Nashville, Indiana, is really cute to walk around and visit.

Come to the Hudson Valley. The CIA is here, Mohonk mountian house, Minnewaska state Park ( both mountains and hiking). Many Hudson River manaions. FDR's residence. Amazing small towns with local shops and restaurants.

I'm not a cabin-vacation kind of person, I'm much more a room-service-vacation kind of person, but would Washington DC be out of the question? You could have all kinds of sex in a nice hotel room, and all the museums are free, for when you need a break.
Lurker here, I am also in SW Ohio, and I would definitely recommend Asheville, NC. The hiking is beautiful, there are great restaurants and breweries, and so many other fun things to do. We spent a day touring the Biltmore and going to their winery, and that was really fun too.
ETA: Sorry, I missed your post that you had gone there last year. I'd probably try Hocking Hills or maybe somewhere in Michigan then.

You are probably about 6 or 7 hours from northern MI. We just went there last week and it was beautiful. You have lots of hiking options at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, tons of wineries to visit north of Traverse City, beaches, GREAT food, and there are lots of cute houses near the water you can rent (unsure of cost) or quaint B&Bs.
If you want an even shorter drive, like others have mentioned, the west coast of MI is nice, too. We did South Haven two years ago. Cute beach town with an awesome beach. Little shops, hiking, bike trails, water sports, short distance to Saugatuck, which is more of the same but bigger.
This was our vacation last year. We loved it, but want to try something different.
I'll third the brown county suggestions. I'm near you in SW Indiana and love brown county. There are a few wineries close by, an outlet nearby, French lick, lake Monroe.
We also have a house in Western Ky and saw someone mention land between the lakes. This is great hiking, two huge lakes if you wanted to rent a boat, and is nice and peaceful.
We decided on Hocking Hills. We're so boring, I know, but we really do love it. 5 days, right after Labor Day. We're going to do ziplining and relive some of our Alaskan honeymoon magic lol.
If you stay in a cabin on Old Timberline, you have another access point into Dolly Sods. Our favorite realty company is Best of Canaan.
Spruce Knob and Seneca Creek backcountry as well as Otter Creek Wilderness are also in the area. Lots of waterfalls near Davis - Douglas Falls and Blackwater Falls.
