Wtf. Why would you hand someone your skittish cat?!? In an airport?!? I'd have asked you to hold the carrier, or even hold my kid's hand, before that.Oi.
Why on earth was the cat not in the carrier already? She brought a loose cat into the airport with a toddler and no plan.
When my sister traveled with her cat they made her take him out of the carrier to go through security. They also regretted that decision. My parents who were on the non-security side said that the entire airport could hear the cat and the commotion.

Why was the cat not already in the carrier? Are you allowed to just stroll through the airport with a loose animal?
You have to pull the cat out as the carrier goes through X-ray. then you bring the cat through the metal detector with you.
Last time I did it, I set off the metal detector (as usual) and both the cat and I got patted down. I had to wit for them to bring me the carrier to put the cat away (and I couldn't touch the carrier) before they could pat me down.
It is not an easy process, but not sure how else you can do it.

Why in the world did that lady give a skittish cat in an airport to a to total stranger? That I can't figure out. I had no idea cats had to come out of the carrier for security.
Also, I had a similar situation with a non-stranger cat (a friendly neighbor cat that always came in our house to see our cats) and it took nearly a year for the gouges to heal. Be sure to keep it really, really clean. I hope it doesn't hurt as much as I'm betting it does! Owie.
Holy shit, you sure were. I opened this expecting to see a teeny baby kitty climbing on you or something. It was nice of you to offer to help, but yeah, get that cleaned out asap!
The cat could very well have been sedated, as it does not always work. My vet VERY strongly suggested doing a trial run of the drug before actually flying with him so I tried it out before flying the first time. He never relaxed and got even more tense and anxious, so I chose to fly with him unsedated.
However, I was the only one who handled him when we needed to go through security. I'm not sure how he would have been being handed off to another person.
And what the heck?!? It ran off into the terminal. If I saw an almost feral cat running through the airport, I would freak.
I'm laughing so hard at this. Isn't the obvious probability that he escaped from a traveler and not that a feral cat somehow made its way inside the airport? lollollol

LOL! I'd freak out either way! Imagine you're trying to find Gate 10 and a rabid cat streaks by!!!

lol at rabid :-P
I'd most likely abandon my kids to try and catch the cat. #crazycatlady
My cat is freaking fast, like insane fast. She had feral parents, but she's not skittish at all and I imagine that this would terrify her. I can't imagine anyone actually being able to catch her if she got lose.
Yeah, my skittish cat would be gone forever if that happened. I mean, I can barely catch her in the house when she has a vet appointment.
I'm sorry stpete. Cat bites are nasty. I'd ask the flight attendant if they have anything that can help, meds, etc.
I just feel like a fucking idiot. I just saw a stressed out mom and wanted to help. I clearly didn't think it through. now instead of going directly to the pool I have to go to a walk in clinic. And if I get antibiotics that don't allow drinking I'm going to be even more pissed at myself.
You can still drink on most
It probably just needs cleaned and some ointment. Cat scratches are the worst, especially that deep. Have fun!
