I'm sorry, it feels really annoying to do this. But the more I research the more confused I get. Can you just tell me which carseat to get? My son will be 5 in August but is not ready for a booster. We have a Britax marathon that he is about the grow out of because of the height of the straps. I would like one that can convert into a high back booster I think. We drive a lot and often long distances and will fall asleep. So I want something comfortable and that he won't slump forward in when sleeping. And a crotch strap that won't strangle him. We just have one so it doesn't need to be narrow or last for years but cost is an issue. Obviously we will pay what we have to for safety. But another Britax is a hard pill to swallow. Thank you for any suggestions!!
I'm not who you paged but why can't a 5 year old be in a high back booster with a 5 pt harness? Is it size?
That graco 4-ever converts down to a backless booster, so maybe that is a good option to last you 3 more years if you don't want a 5pt harness booster.
Oh no - I want him to stay in a 5 point harness. I'm just having a hard time choosing one that's comfortable and reasonable priced. I see someone mentioned the Nautilus. I'll look into the 4-ever too. Thanks!
I've been digging into old threads today and just bought a nautilus for similar reasons. We have three main Britax seats in our van but then an additional two convertibles in DH's car. One of them (scenera) was scary close to the limits for our older two. Would have been okay for one of them for like another 2 lbs.
@fivedogs has also mentioned the sureride which is a cheaper convertible that has much higher height limits, and then buying a cheap booster down the line. I saw that for around $100 and picked up a nautilus at the target sale for $142. I figured it was worth it to just have the three options all in one seat, plus with the $40 off a $200 purchase and red card savings plus ebates, going on at target, it was a wash.

HTH!
Have the slept in the Nautilus? I won't be able to stand it if his head falls forward. We have like .5 inch left before hitting the height on the shoulder straps.

I seriously just placed the order online like 20 minutes ago lol. DH is picking it up after work so I have no idea. But, my kids are in boulevards and they (the older two ff) slump forward a bit when they're sleeping and it doesn't bother them at all.
Can I piggyback a question too? I'm confused about seatbelt locking clips. Do I need to use one when doing a seatbelt installation in my 2007 Honda Fit?
I'm pretty sure you only need them when your car doesn't lock the seatbelt itself after it's been fully extended. So you pull the seatbelt out as far it will go, install the carseat, and the belt should still be "locked." If your car doesn't have this feature (and I would be surprised if any newer car didn't), then you need the locking clip.
