Many of us commented in Brie's post that our babies were still eating every 2-3 hours during the first year. My FIL watches my kids right now. He asked me today when they will start having a bottle with meals, rather then in between. They're almost 9 months and have this schedule:
530 - bottle
830 - bottle
1130 - bottle
1230 - purees
2 - bottle
5 - bottle
630 - purees
730 - bottle
Will they eventually have a bottle with meals? I guess I assumed once we started doing milk close to a year then they would have that with meals and I would start dropping bottles of BM. I was also hoping that I would do sippy cups with meals (assuming they are using them better by then).

My son started having a meal instead of his bottle. At 10 months, he dropped his noon bottle and just ate table food for lunch. A few weeks later, he ate a regular dinner, no bottle.
By the time he turned one, DS had one bottle a day, first thing.
DS was not "food is for fun" - he was eating quite a bit.
I never gave a bottle with meals. I started dd on a sippy cup with water when she was given purees. It was just to get her used to it. Once she was close to a year she got sippy cups with milk.
By the time dd was on solids I wasn't producing enough bm to give extra bottles during the day anyway. The solids were always given in between bottle/bfing times.

I never gave a bottle with a meal. Bottles went in between meals. At 9 months, she got a bottle when she woke up, solids/purees about an hour and a half later, a bottle , lunch, a bottle, dinner and bedtime bottle. We offered sippy cups of milk with meals.
The pedi said to always do milk first and then a meal. When E went to 3 meals around 9months the "lunch" session definitely became shorter and was one of our first sessions to drop since she was a good eater.
19 months and DD chugs bottles between meals. She fills up on food and there is no room for her to also have milk and she shows this to us by vomiting out the milk.
But just last week, toward the end of two meals, she indicated that she wanted the bottle/milk with her meal. I also got her to sip milk from a straw cup at a restaurant. So this progression might happen on its own. Or not, we never had milk with our meals growing up.
Ok I was thinking they wouldn't change. I told him that and he seemed to not believe me. But he'll do whatever I say so I know he won't change their schedule. At 13 months they'll start at a daycare anyway.
No bottles of milk at meals, but sippies of water starting around 6-7 months. Around 8-9 months is when she started dropping bottles and replacing them with meals. So instead of a bottle first thing when she woke up, she ate breakfast in her highchair. She'd get a bottle at daycare an hour or two later. Around 10-11 months, she started dropping her 11:30 a.m. bottle and eating lunch earlier in the day (she previously ate lunch at daycare at 1 p.m.).
