I have to replace my son's True Fit as we were in a minor car accident. Insurance will reimburse us for a comparable seat. DS is 3, very tall and FF. I was thinking about trying to get them to pay for a Frontier, but want something else in my back pocket if they deny it. Comfort and a tall shell are my main requirements as this is our main seat. Any recommendations? Thanks!
We may have another (3rd). Undecided, but we do have an 8m old that we are in the process of buying convertibles for.
He is about 40-41" tall and wears a 4t shirt. He just turned 3 in May
If you can get a Frontier, that might be a good investment given his shirt size (I would still measure his torso when you get a chance - have him sit against a wall and measure bum to shoulder). Otherwise, get a convertible and use it for the 8-mo (if you haven't already bought one) and then buy another seat for the 3yo.
Kids supposedly gain about an inch of torso height per year, so you would want a seat that has a top harness slot at least 3 inches above his current torso height. I think the Frontier is 20", and most other combination seats/taller convertibles are 17.5-18.5. Most kids don't need the height of the Frontier, but for those that do, it's pretty much the only option.
Just measured torso height and its almost 15". I should probably lobby for the Frontier then?
