Window screens

Short of never opening my windows, how do I stop my cats from destroying the window screens? I'm in an apt and will have to replace 3 screens if I ever hope to get back my security deposit. :@

To replace the screens is sooo cheap. Our local hardware store did it.

You can also replace the screens with an animal safe screen. Its supposed to be tougher and harder to wreck by pets. That won't help in the short term though. My dog jumps on our front windows on our porch when he wants to get in if we don't see him right away, drives me nuts as I hear his nails digging into the screen. He's ruined two of them. I ended up just pulling the ruined screens and and putting them away. I will replace them when he's done with that phase (got I hope he outgrows all this annoying puppy stuff soon!) Until then its just window, no screen. I just make sure when I have the windows open I don't open those, not a huge deal.
