So I'm kinda wavering between +o( and :@ and :-| and :-( and
I was just informed by HR that the vacant position in my department and my job were going to be merged. Because it is a completely new job the job has to be posted. They don't have to post it outside but they might since it's a high position (do-diligence and all).
Basically I have to apply for my own damn job. But a job that now also has a second job merged into it. And I have to do that without knowing the pay because they haven't calculated it yet.
I currently have 4 bottles of wine on my desk. I might only have 3 by the end of the day.
Oh and the smiley emoticon is because if everything (haha!) worked out perfectly (ha!) then this would be good upward move for me and the pay increase should be nice (ha!).
Maybe the universe is telling you to go for the daycare plan!
Sorry about the news, but it sounds like there's a few ways it could work out for the best. My mom just went through this, except they were interviewing 3 full time staff for what they were turning into 1.5 positions. And all of said staff were in their early 60's. Talk about crappy timing for your employees.
Also, how the hell do employers think people can make decisions about these things without salary information. Bizzarro.
ETA: Only a trip to the financial planner convinced my mom to suck it up and apply rather than say 'screw you' and retire. But for you, drink your wine and keep your chin up!!!!
