I think I need to make a "morning chores" type chart or something for the kids. I don't have time to help everyone with everything (4 kids, 6.5, 4.5, 2.5, 6 months), and I think the older ones should be able to take care of more things on their own by now. Especially for the 4.5 and 6.5 year olds...what do your kids do on their own? They often get up before us and just play, which is great, but I think they should get in the habit of getting up and dressed right away. I am thinking that even though it's summer they could 1. turn off night lights 2. bring sippy cups to the bathroom (they have a sippy cup of water every night) 3. make bed 4. get dressed
5. brush teeth after breakfast
Last summer they would just get up and watch Paw Patrol or play and get dressed after breakfast, but this year it's just seeming like it takes us forever to be ready to go anywhere...especially with the baby added into the mix.

I'm one for good old fashioned bribery. If they get ready in a timely manner they get iPad time/a few minutes of cartoons/some desireable toy. If they're too slow they're out of luck. Works for my kids.
We have a large jam jar for DS and he gets the small colored Pom Poms (craft store) added to it when he cooperates. He's 4 so getting dressed into pajamas at night in a timely manner gets a Pom Pom....stuff like that. Yesterday he randomly collected all the glasses and a plate I had out on the coffee table and put it in the dishwasher totally unasked. I was flabbergasted and gave him three Pom Poms and told him that was sweet and helpful. Once the jar is full (takes about a month) he gets to pick a toy, book, or Lego at the toy shop.

We started a list of jobs at the start of the summer and we check them off every night. I will remind her that if I need to ask her twice to do her jobs then she won't get her sticker. It generally works. We condensed them starting this week since it's been a month and she has morning jobs (make bed, get dressed), dinner jobs (set table, feed dog, get bibs/napkins), and bedtime jobs (go potty, brush teeth/hair, put on jammies) and one all day job (no hitting). So she can earn 4 stickers each day and she picks her prize and then I set the 'cost'. This time she wanted a book. It's 18 stickers.
