His company asked him to go to their HQ in Cincinnati for a couple of days to get a new guy up to speed. There are no direct flights, so he had to fly to DC, then to Cincinnati.
First leg was smooth as silk. Then it all went in the crapper. First his flight was delayed, then it was canceled. They were going to ship him out this morning at 10am, connecting in Charlotte, getting him into Cinci at 5pm. Which sort of defeats the purpose of his morning meeting TODAY. So he got a flight to Dayton and a rental car to drive to Cinci.
The flight to Dayton was delayed for 2 hours. Landed in a thunderstorm so they couldn't get off the plane for an hour. DH almost missed picking up his rental car, since the office closed at midnight. Somehow he managed it.
Did I mention he was approached about doing this trip once a month? Thank God he said no. And did I mention he hates to fly, and has 2 more flights for vacation scheduled for the rest of the year?
Poor guy, it was not a good start to the trip. I can only hope his trip home tomorrow goes much better.
And I got to e-mail him this morning to tell him about our 7am visit by the fire department. All of our alarms went off in the house. Turns out the one in S's room was finito and it set off all the other ones. I've now purchased a new one, and I didn't have to deal with a house fire and a husband in another state--whew!
