Aaaah, this was an hour and a half ago, so I hope you've figured it out!
When it's borderline, I use a lot of direct pressure (30 minutes without taking the pressure off), butterfly strips if it seems like it would help, or that "nu skin" wound glue, which was recommended to C by a random ER doc she met on a mountain hiking after she'd cut her knee open. He says it's what they use in the ER now for things that don't obviously need stitches.
If it's face or somewhere a scar would be particularly undesirable, stitches. If it's really gaping and/or you can see other gross stuff inside (fat, etc.) Then go. Otherwise probably wait. Hope you got it figured out by now though!
Yeah. I'm ok! I sliced my finger open, trying to pry a frozen teething toy out of our automatic ice machine mechanism. It got lodged in the grinder and froze there. Instead of thawing it, I decided to push on it with a knife. Lord.. My finger is sliced really deep but it stopped bleeding through bandaids after 3 or 4.

Omg! Having kids is dangerous, haha! Glad you're okay!
