A's teacher told me yesterday that A had cried the past 2 days at school, this is very unlike her, she loves school. I talked to her and found out she cried one day because she was embarrassed about a misunderstanding with her homework, then cried the following day because another girl has been acting like she is better/smarter than A and it makes her feel bad.
J and I got to talking about what happened at school and how A has been very sensitive lately, crying and having hurt feelings a lot. She's also got an attitude lately, not too bad but I have to warn her about it a few times a week.
It dawned on me that maybe she is hitting puberty. :-|
I didn't start my period until I was 12 (6th grade), she is 8 1/2 (3rd grade). Could this be it?
Please tell me all the right books again, I can't find the other post you ladies so generously replied to on TB.

I got my period at 9. I was mortified. It might be THAT time. I read a book called "Whats happening to me" as a kid with my mom. It was helpful for us both.
Here's what I remember from our other threads about books:
The Care and Keeping of You (American Girl) - good for younger kids, talks about periods but not sex. (recommended by Meegs)
It's So Amazing! and It's Perfectly Normal by Robie Harris - good for both younger and older kids (recommended by EratMama)
What's Happening to my Body Book for Girls by Linda Madaras - aimed at a slightly older audience and contains chapters on sex, pregnancy, and birth control. There's a book for younger girls by the same author - Ready, Set, Grow! about just puberty. (recommended by me)
Changing Bodies, Changing Lives - by the Our Bodies, Ourselves people and aimed at teens, contains a lot of information (recommended by me)
Our Bodies, Ourselves - written for adults but a huge wealth of information about everything about women's bodies (recommended by multiple people)
