I'm going to a concert this week. Lucky me -- I'll be in a meeting downtown for most of the day, but it will probably wrap up in the early afternoon so I'll be able to work from home for the rest of the afternoon. Which means I can change after the meeting.
A friend from my old firm just left to become partner at another firm. She was counsel at my old firm and old firm was beyond shitty to her before/when she left (by, among other things, not making her partner even though she was the most capable person in that office). She has invited me to a cocktail event at her office on Thursday night. It is RIGHT by where the concert is, and I want to support her in this move and I'd love to catch up with her so perfect -- free pre-concert drinks!
So I will be going in as a potential client (which is why I am invited), but I want her to look good to her new firm. She does already have work from my company through our mutual friend (who used to work with us at my old firm).
I have to wear somewhat proper business casual attire and not concert attire, right? Can I at least go sleeveless? It will be super hot I think and I want to bring a small cross-body bag that wouldn't hold a cardigan or blazer.
100% chance I'll do that either way. Would one that is sleeveless be okay? One that I would wear to work during the week (but only at my casual job, certainly not to my old office)? One that I would wear to a concert but wouldn't wear to new casual job is not okay, right?
