I ordered Pixie chinos on May 22. I sent them back in early July and they were received at the warehouse on July 16. They sent them back to me because it was more than their 45 day return window. Lol. Way to stick it me!
Did you guys know that they won't give you a store credit in the store? You have to wait for them to mail it to you. I just returned a gift yesterday and found out this policy.

I'm an "Old Navyist" for god's sake. Lol. They sent me a special credit card and everything. I am Old Navy Royalty! You'd think the fact the pants are still in season and in stock would have influenced their decision as well.

WHAT??? That's how they treat their best customers? Between that and what busybodyk said about a MAILED store credit, I think I've shopping my last days at Old Navy.
Their 45 day return period is the worst. I'm pretty sure it starts from the day you ordered too so if smart post takes 2 weeks to get to you, you are already down to 30 days. Then when you return with a receipt past the date, they will mail you an old navy credit voucher eventually. I've made an effort not to shop their website anymore because of this.

Wow that's crazy! I remembe when Loft changed last year ( or two years) but at least its from the date recivied. If you bought it before the change, I would fight it.
I hate bad store return policies. Pretty soon the only place I'm going to be shopping is Nordstrom and I think Kohls has a good policy for now.
I've ended up keeping so much shit I didn't want because of this
Me too, old navy and gap items mostly. They went to donation if I wasn't on my game to return in time and with the receipt. Funny, I haven't had that problem with things I've bought at Nordstrom, Lulu etc.. I obviously put a little more thought into buying from those places and I bet I've wasted more money at places like Old Navy on items I don't end up wearing even thought I probably bought them on major 'sale'. hmmm food for thought.
I once bought a ton of stuff online and months later mailed it back. They sent me an email that it was past the return window, but they'd extend me a one time courtesy. I do have a gap silver card...
Also, I once returned something to Gap after that credit card statement had already been paid, so instead of crediting it towards next month's bill, they also mailed me a store credit. The worst part about the credit was that it was essentially a check and couldn't be used online. It also couldn't be used for in store promos that required a Gap card to get the deal because I wasn't paying with a Gap cc. It took me foreverrrrr to spend them because of all the dumb rules.

But when you bought them, the return policy was 90 days. WTH?
Good point! Is the old return policy printed on the invoice? Or this new one?

I returned something last fall and this spring that was past the 45 days. I don't think it's a new thing this year--- possibly July 2014?
Yeah, Old Navy, Gap, BR have different return policies online vs instore. Also, learned the hard way. If you buy online it's 45 days and store is/was 90 days (haven't bought anything in the store in a long time). I've been burned before. I even tried to return some jeans with out a receipt for store credit. They had the exact same pair, but they can tell by the tag what year it was made. They always have the same boot cut jeans for kids.

Can you return in-store for store credit at least?
Yes, you can and sorry for the late reply. If you don't have original purchase receipt or you had misplaced it then in that case you can return an item at a store and you will in return be refund in form of store credit at current selling value of that product. You also need to know the process to return an item without receipt and with receipt and the Old Navy Store Policy to benefit store credit.
