You go to a room sans deodorant (the worst part, IMO) and they have you raise you arm, stand perfectly still while placing your breast in a little cup holder type thing (lol...bad description) and they take the pictures. It is very quick and not so bad. In my case, my breasts are very dense, so I had to go on for an ultrasound. I am not sure of your age, but having to follow up with an ultrasound is common in younger women (I am 35).
Best of luck to you. I know that it can be scary, but most likely you are a-ok.

It's not bad. The boob squeeze isn't very bad at all, the worst part for me is having the corner of the machine digging into my armpit! And it's over real quickly, so try not to worry about it.
They will squish your boobs (one at a time) between some plates to image them. It's generally easier if your boobs are bigger. You also might get called to get a follow up ultrasound, for things like dense tissue or pockets of fluid. All things considered, I wouldn't be concerned.
a tip: don't go the week before your period when boobs are more sensitive.
I hate going. I have implants so maybe it makes it worse but they squeeze the crap out of them at all angles. I always wonder if it's possible for them to burst.

38. They have me scheduled for the mammogram and potentially an ultrasound, it depends on what the mammogram shows. Thanks. I am a little freaked out.

The best advice I got was from my dr. She said that when youre younger and you have more dense tissue its harder for them to see anything in a mammogram. And because it's your first and they wont have a frame of reference, you are highly likely to be asked to come back in. So if they ask you to come back, dont automatically panic. I was very glad to know that because I did get a call back. (Everything was fine)

There was nothing "little" or "cup-holder"ish about any mammogram machine I have ever seen in my life, so I'm lolling at your lol. Good luck, OP. Don't wear deodorant, and don't be surprised when the little cupholder type thing turns out to be a giant vise that squishes your breast tissue to within an inch of its life. I seriously want someone to invent a bra that makes my boobs look as big as they look in the mammogram machine.
Really, it's not that bad. A little uncomfortable, but it's over in a few seconds. And those few seconds ... DON'T BREATHE.

I guess it was more like a shelf..haha. I don't know. It was a contraption that held my boob. And squished it. I was so worried I would move or breathe.
