Daffodils blooming around my birthday. That DOES NOT happen in my home country. (Well, not naturally anyway. Hot house flowers are a different subject.)
I guess I'll say.... Having a lot of cultural/entertainment activities close by. Museums, palaces, concerts, etc. there are SO many things to see. For the kids there are multiple zoos, aquariums, kids museums, amusement parks, etc.
Public transit, awesome wifi, and walk-ability are all top contenders though.

The "village" we have to raise our kids in here. Not an actual village, but the family and friends we have here for support and love. We were seriously lacking that in the States.
I think I'd have to say the cultural awareness. I've tried more new things (not even from this country) in the 2 1/2 years I've been here than I ever did back in the States.
We don't have kids yet but after comparing our parent friends' freedom here versus in the States, I don't know how I'd raise children without this much help, hahaha... "All" I have now is a full-time maid and she's like my wife. I wouldn't want to have to choose between her and my husband, lol.
I am back "home". Coming up with just one thing is hard. I'd say that it is one of a number of places in the world where I can be happy but it is solidly on that list. I could move again but I could also stay here. This area is so full of transient people that even though it is "home", it is frequently changing and it is full of varied people. (I'm in the DC area). It can be both a familiar and a strange place at the same time.
I love how "under the radar" you can be in NYC. Not a lot of questions asked if you're speaking a foreign language in a public place or if you're famous (not that I'm famous!) or wearing a crazy outfit/hairstyle or whatever else would probably make you stand out anywhere else. People just kind of go about their business here and don't make anyone feel like an animal at the zoo if they happen to be different.
