My BG 4.0s are leaking. It seems as if it's the sheer volume of urine, but I'm getting 2-3 leaks a day, so I suspect it is actually an absorbency issue of the CD components. Grrrrrrr.
Have any of you stripped your diapers before? The diapers have been used consistently for the past 1.5 years and I haven't stripped them before. Should I just invest in new inserts?
I wish I could help, but I just wanted to tell you you're not alone. After about the same amount of time (a little more than 1.5 years), almost all of our dipes leak now. I don't know what to do, but I've pretty much stopped relying on them outside of the house. I'll be watching this thread, though
I have not, but I know I should try. I even have the Dawn to do it. Blah. I guess I should try. I just miss when they just worked without me doing anything
I would strip before I bought new ones. My BG inserts lasted me from 3 months old through potty training and I only stripped once.
Make sure you have blue dawn. wash the diapers if they are dirty. You don't need to dry them and then wash with a squirt of blue dawn. I have an energy efficient washer so I had to boil water in a huge pot on the stove and then add to washer. Keep rinsing with the hottest water until there are no more suds.
They were good but true repelling is kind of rare. Do you have a dry insert and wet bottoms? Ig the insert is soaked then it's not an absorbency issue, it may be a fit issue. Has your baby grown a lot? Some times fit changes and you need add another insert. Urine output increases with age.
I strip them every 3 months, at the same time I descale my keurig, heh. I put her in disposables for the day so I do all of them at once (I have ~20 diapers atm). I start with dirty, so they go in a cold soak cycle, then I put the machine on hot wash/cold rinse (I don't have a hot/warm or hot/hot option), and add 1 tbsp of dawn to the drum and 1/2c of bleach in the bleach thinger. I let the machine run for 3-4 minutes and then open it and let it soak overnight. In the morning I close the lid and let the hot/warm cycle finish, and then do at least 3 rinses in warm/warm (so, 6 fills & empties of the washer total). Basically until the bubbles are gone. Then, I line dry (this is pretty much the only time I line dry, lol).
My cloth has held up pretty well... she usually only leaks after bath night (she drinks so much freaking bath water).

Thanks, all! I'm going to try stripping them now.
I don't think it's a fit issue - my DH is always fiddling with them and the FB to make sure they're snug. I'll check again. He just pees a ton! Ha, but really though, sometimes they'll leak right after we put them on and I know it's not an exorbitant amount of urine at that point.
I do think mine is somewhat of a fit issue. Plus, Naomi has figured out how to jut out her little hip and pee out the side :/ Why she does this I don't know, but she seems to think it's quite clever. Maya is the one that truly leaks, and she pees way more. I think that's why we are having problems in the last few months. Sometimes I wonder if she just started peeing too much for the cloth to handle. Maybe I should get more inserts and see if doubling up will help. I do know that the cheaper brands just flat-out don't work anymore, even with doublers...I know it's the fit with those. And I'm sorry for hijacking! Snips, I really hope the stripping works, let us know

If they are leaking but the insert isnt soaked then you need to strip them. Or it could be a fit issue. If the insert is soaked through then you need more absorbency (or need to change more often). Try adding a doubler or switching to hemp.
Try tightening up the rise if you can too. When my kid started walking her thighs slimmed way down and the only way to get the legs right was to go back to medium rise. You can also try stuffing with a prefold or recieving blanket or hand towel to see if it's the inserts. I retired all my microfiber eventually because of compression leaks.
Oh and for stripping I would go with rlr. I found some at Walmart.

You know, adjusting the rise is a good idea. I'm going to try that. I really should get more hemp inserts...we have them for our Swaddlebees and those are my best dipes.
