I found that stinking hamster! After opening up the sofa, I realized it was somewhere else in the room. It had relocated to the craft room closet, chewed a hole through one of my fabric bins, and chewed up some contact paper. It's one of those closets that goes back along the sloping roofline, so I knew it was hiding back there. Of course, there's a ton of stuff hanging up, so I had to pull half of it out, at which point the hamster started shrieking. Scared the crap out of me.
I got enough stuff out that there was nowhere to go, and nabbed it with S's butterfly net. It was moving pretty slowly, probably due to lack of sleep and food and water It started shrieking again (I swear it looked/sounded like something out of a cartoon) and dragged it back over to the cage. It promptly drank a ton of water and hid in its igloo.
I am not touching the damn thing again until DH gets home on Saturday.
S will be thrilled. I had to tell her last night that the hamster was missing, and she was a big help in trying to locate it. But she kept saying she was worried, and I think had a fear it had escaped the room and was going to crawl into her bed.
I wish the school still had a damn gerbil. I do not like hamsters.
