I posted not long ago re: my 8 mo DS who had morphed from sweet, 9-11 hr STTN to wild man, Thou Shall Not Dress Me without flailing, sleeping in 3-4-5 hr increments with multiple wake-ups?
Yeah.
New twist.
He's now declining most bottles during the day (maybe 1-2 4 oz bottles) eating purees and table foods, and trying sippy/straw cups aND spoons of water. Fine, that feels normalish?
But he's taken to having those bottles overnight! He had 8oz at 8 pm, 5 oz at 1 am, and 6 oz at 430am.
When he stopped STTN, we don't offer a bottle right away - we hold him, change him, walk around with him. Bottle only offered if he's showing hunger signs.
Gaaaaah.
Is it us? Do we start offering water in the bottle? I mostly want him to STTN z if he's hungry, we of course want to feed him. But he shouldn't be hungry then, right?
Yeah, this is about when we started doing water in cups overnight - well, maybe it was a little later, but close. Our pedi told us to just turn off the monitor and leave our door open, but we weren't comfortable with that. After two nights of getting water overnight, she pretty much went back to STTN. She'll still wake up and play in her crib sometimes around midnight, but typically settles back down fairly quickly.
Hang in there - sounds like your LO is starting to make the transition from liquid to solid diet. It was a wrinkle I hadn't anticipated, lol, but passed for us pretty quickly.
We started offering water (in a bottle) around 9 months per our pedi. DS was waking up twice a night (like clockwork, 1 am and 4 am) and our pedi said we could probably drop one of those wakeups and that he would likely stop waking up for water.
I can't lie, it didnt really work but we also weren't really good about it (H would go in, offer him a bottle of water, if DS kept crying H would leave immediately and say to me, he needs to nurse. So, it was a bit of a fail, lol).
He continued the two wakeups until 11 months when he started STTN again.
Do they just *know* it's 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM?!? :-)

Is that a thing - where they eat solids during the day and bottles/liquids overnight?! I was not anticipating this either :-)
