I'm trying to be more purposeful with my shoe purchases for DD this fall because her foot is growing faster.
For school, she has to wear enclosed shoes. There is sand on part of the playground and it get in her shoes so nothing with holes. Crocs are not allowed, not that I'd buy them anyway.
I prefer mary jane styles but it's hard to tell online which ones can be worn barefoot and which require socks. She doesn't have sweaty/stinky feet. She already has a pair of white mary jane style keds which we do wear with socks.
Any suggestions? I strongly prefer velcro or elastic strap over a buckle and a something that the toe won't look like 8 kids have worn it after 1 day at school.
ETA: She has a pair of Toms but they aren't really great for the playground because she has a narrow-ish foot. Fine for running errands, not great for hard play.
Camper. They're pricey, but solid. DD does a lot of walking and plays hard and every pair of Campers she has had has lasted until she outgrew them (not the case with other brands, except for sneakers).
Both plus add in a huge helping of hating washing and matching socks. I hate socks. It's warm here most of the time so we are barefoot at home. I prefer to just be able to throw some shoes on and go.
I have had my girls in several varieties of Mary Jane style shoes - often Livie and Luca (which I used to love but haven't been as thrilled with the quality lately) or stride rite. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I never make them wear socks, although they do transition to tights in cooler weather. We usually get a pair of boots for the actual winter months.
I want a pair of the gold or pearl Ruches but can't find them in her size. I feel like they would be good barefoot but go with pretty much everything.
