I was lucky enough to find Monkey Bar Buddies a few years ago on clearance and they're fantastic. Lightweight, comfortable, and my daughter has worn them weekly for about 3 years and they're still going strong. But they're $15/ea. Ugh. I should probably just buy more but I'm looking for other options. What shorts does your daughter wear under dresses/skirts?

DD wears the Jumping Beans brand bike shorts from Kohls under her skirts and dresses. They're not as light weight as Monkey Bar Buddies, she's not wearing anything super form fitting at this age so they work fine. They go on sale for as low as ~$3.50/pair, so you can't beat the price.
Playground pals from kohl's are the favorite in our house. I think a 3 pack was $10 on sale last year. Dd1's doesn't grow that fast so she is still wearing them. Edit - 3 packs are $9.99 on the website right now.
And 15% off.
Thanks for this. I completely forgot that I needed to order these for DD. 6 pair for $17!
Cartwheel shorts at children's place. DD has been wearing the same ones for 2 year without a problem. I got her some more at the start of summer for about $4 a pair with sales and coupons.
I think I am the only MMM who doesn't make her kid wear shorts under dresses.
I mostly don't either. Only If I see her dresses are pretty short. Or sometimes DD will want to wear them to school and if they are doing something extra outdoors where I know she will be extra active I do.

I do tell her once a dress/skirt gets to short it's a legging outfit.
Heck, she was in a dress this week that came to her knees. She was doing cartwheels in it without showing her panties. I feel this is a skill.
We also have the cartwheel shorts - they are currently on the website for $5 each. they normally have online codes for extra % off too. Free shipping now too.
Bike shorts on sale from Hanna Andersson, or tiny little shorts from ON and Target. I wish they had a longer inseam, but they do work great under dresses.

DD1 mostly wears bike shorts from Target. Often several sizes too small (she has a super skinny waist, but she's tall, so they work very well under skirts and dresses).
Years ago we bought a couple adorable pairs of longer bike shorts/short leggings from Children's Place that had lace at the bottom, but I haven't been able to find them since!
I've gotten most of DD's at Gymboree. I stock up when they are marked down. She has a small waist so she has some 12 month legging capris that now stop above her knees. She wears some white ones of those too.
Cartwheel shorts from TcP here too. Second year we've used the same ones. About $3.50 with coupons usually. We use them for gymnastics too, with leos, since I was a gymnast in the "you always wear spandex shorts with your leo" generation.

I'm such a sucker. I just bought 1 pair of monkey bar buddies on ebay for $16. They seriously are the best. I do need to check out all these options, thanks for the ideas!!

We've done both Playground Pals and TCP cartwheel shorts. DD prefers the Playground Pals because they're not cotton (she loves the feel of "shiny" fabric) and I like that her dresses don't stick to them as much as with cotton. The Playground Pals are more like my Jockey Skimmies.
