Exchange last names before first date or no?

I like to know the guy's full name so I can check him out, but then I feel like I should give him my full name.

I always ask for the guys last name so I can check first....I've yet to get any attitude about it. I don't give out mine and explain that it's because I'm a single women with kids and I don't need to open the door for any crazy.

no i dont because I am the only person in the entire world with my last name/first name combo so they could get way too much info about me if they were crazy

I used to be more anal about it...but then I just kinda got over it and figured I'd trust my gut. I have yet to go out with a pyscho, so i guess that's good?
Most of the time, I know enough about them that I can probably Google them anyways. (like, first name, school, work = linked in account and voila! Last name!) This seems strangely stalkerish, but it's more to make sure they are legit.

But if I were to meet a person for the first time via online dating, then no, I would not give it out. I am not open to doing online dating now that I have ds.

My name is all over public record. With my name you can find my address, employer, state professional license info. So I tend not to give my full name out.

I like to get the guy's full name if possible. Then I check the county court records and a few other things.
