Does anyone know whether the large barcode at the top right of the gift receipt is the important one or the smaller barcode at the bottom left? Here's an example (not my actual receipt):
I ordered two things as a birthday gift for DD's friend and then added some tampons because they were an add-on item so I needed to spend $25 to get them. I only checked the gift box for the two birthday items so I assumed I would get a gift receipt only for those two like they do at Target. Everything arrived yesterday and the tampons are on the gift receipt too ... oops.
DH doesn't think it is a big deal and I should just give it as it but this is a classmate friend and I am not very close friends with the parents. I'm leaning toward cutting the gift receipt, since the tampons are at the bottom and the upper barcode looks more important anyway. However, I don't want to cut off the bottom barcode if it will make the gift receipt useless.
I suppose there is always sharpie or cut and tape but I don't want it to look totally weird.
They should not need the barcode at all. All they need is the order number. Amazon will email them a piece of paper to enclose in the returned shipment. They just need the order number to identify the purchase in the Returns center.
I am not sure of the answer, but I wanted to commiserate. I have done the same thing, but with a big box of condoms in conjunction with a baby shower order. I sort of wanted to include the condoms with the gift as a joke, but wasn't sure how it would go over. lol!
