I'm going to be in Ashland, OR for a couple of days. So besides the Shakespeare Festival, what else is there to do? We'll also have our dog with us, so anything outdoor/dog friendly would be great too!
I'm assuming this is your first trip to Ashland? Love Ashland! I used to go every year in high school. I'm sure a lot has changed in 10+ years, but last I knew, they had a law with no fast food (McDo, etc) within the city limits.
Lithia Park is LOVELY and dog friendly - just don't let your dog chase the poor swans (if there are any left). It's fun to go on one of the actor-led tours backstage. Be sure to go and have a taste of water from the Lithia fountain. There are a lot of great restaurants and fun little shops to wander around. There are now some wineries in the area (but I have no idea if they are good or not) Also a nearby mountain for hiking (North Mountain) Medford is less than 20 minutes away.
I have a childhood friend on FB who lives there now and I can ask him for additional suggestions.

It is my first time to Ashland (and Southern OR)! I'll be attending a small family reunion (probably about a dozen adults, and 2 kids). The only planned activity I know of is going to a play, which is at a time my H and I won't be able to attend, due to the 8-hr drive. So, I'm trying to come up with things to do to 1)Keep my dog busy so he gets tired, 2)Something fun to do while my dog is tired/passed out at the hotel
They often do a fun mini-show "On the Green" before the evening show at the Elizabethan on the bricks out front. Often its some minstrel music and jokes, you can bring your dog and a blanket and sit and enjoy. Hope you do get to see a play, the Angus Bowmer is an acoustically awesome theater. How many days will you be there?
