So, I second shot a wedding back on Aug 11 with an agreement with the photographer that I would be paid $300 for my services.
The thing is, this said photographer was in Dallas shooting a completely different wedding and I shot it with an associate photographer of hers. I handed over my photo cards that night to the photographer I was working with and assumed that I would be in contact with the pimp (for lack of a better word) on Monday as to how I would be paid.......yes I realized this was not the best plan.
I have shot a total of three weddings with the pimp photographer all of which I did for free. She agreed that I was ready with my skill level to be compensated and we discussed the $300 on many occasions. We had a *somewhat* of a personal relationship so I assumed it would be no problem to get paid.
Fast forward to today. I have sent her a total of 4 emails asking her when/how I will be paid. She has not responded at all. I called her cell and it was powered off.....still in service but went straight to voicemail.
Ugh. Do I need to relax and be more patient? The thing is $300 is a LOT of money to my little ol' business. Getting it set up has been draining on my business AND personal bank account and I really could use the money to pay some of my expenses.
So tell me honestly if I need to relax or if I am right to not back down in getting my money.
You need to get paid. (And you need a written agreement beforehand next time.) I don't have any advice on how to go about getting paid, but you are definitely not acting crazy.

And your work is fantastic.
Well, I had signed a second shooter contract back in May when I started working with her. But she said it just needed to sign one and it would cover me for all the weddings I shot with her. Mostly it covered her, not me LOL. But it did say that I would be compensated at the time I handed my camera cards over........which never happened, LOL.
Ugh. This whole situation has been eating me up inside. He prices start at $4k, and with a second shooter I am sure it's closer to $5k and I am sure she is paid prior to the event.
GIVE ME MY FUCKING MONEY LADY! Ha.
And thanks for the nice words about my photos. While I have learned a lot from her, she doesn't sugar coat her critiques so my confidence is a little low. But mostly that's my fault, I need thicker skin, LOL. But I have to hand it to the girl, she takes beautiful photos so she can be a bitch, LOL. Like for real, her photos are amazing.

Normally I would say give it 2 weeks (which it hasn't quite been yet) but since your contract says you will be compensated at the time you turn your cards over, then she is in breach of contract so yes, you should be hounding her. I hope you get your money soon
