I've been obsessed with the idea of relaxing lately. I can't wait until I can have a real vacation with no real responsibilities, but that is a far off dream right now.
What are some of the daily things you do to rest?
For me, tonight it was a good glass of wine with a real homemade dinner and knitting some.
I kind of like that this deployment is pushing me to appreciate the little things.
Hey I'm knitting tonight too. In addition to that, I like to read, sit on my back porch and soak in the beauty I can see, nap, take a hot bath. Those are all relaxing to me!

Read, take a bath, drink wine, read in a bath with wine, sit in the yard and listen to the crickets and cicadas, go to bed early, watch a fire and listen to music, eat something yummy, weapons cleaning, shoot long distance. I know the last one sounds odd, but you have to relax and slow your breathing to hit long distance targets. I find it soothing.

Read, take a bath, listen to music. This going to sound weird but if I'm super stressed I clean. Naps always help too. I write a lot of my feelings out, it helps.

That makes total sense. I find SCUBA incredibly relaxing for the same reason.
I never used to be a tv watcher, but now I'll zone out to something. Otherwise it's a book, wine, jazz night. I can't listen to vocals when I read because I get distracted.
If I want to have an active relaxation (like, my mind needs a rest, but not my body), I hike or bake. Hiking by myself can be a wonderful almost meditative experience. Nothing but one step after another, in rhythm, which allows my mind to either focus on it and tune out all thoughts or else run without distraction. Both are good
