Oh man, that is scary papie.
And also so, so frustrating for you all. My dad was the dean of his department at a college in my home state for years, and had one professor sue the department and the college for a wrongful firing. It was a such a mess, my dad still gets worked up talking about it.
The meeting was cancelled, but he has the dates of all our meetings. What blocks him from showing up at any of them? I guess we can change all the dates? It's just one of those feelings that everybody has about this guy. Like, if he was on the news for shooting everyone one day nobody will be surprised. :::shudder:::
Wow, that is scary. Change meeting times, locations, etc. anything you can to avoid this guy. And I might consider taking Monday off, honestly. Maybe it's silly, but I wouldn't be able to be productive anyway.
Oh wow, he is scary and sounds mentally unstable. I think rescheduling the meetings would be a good idea. If there's a way to hold them at a different location, that might also be something to consider.
Good grief. He needs to go away like now. Possible to get an order of protection from him? It sounds like there are enough of you that would be able to provide testimony to get one.
Thanks guys. I am really hoping my gut is just paranoid. I am not showing up Monday for sure. And ideally not for all of next week (classes start the following week). Yes, this is my department. And I'm on the executive committee so I can't even pretend I am not involved. Ugh.
He emailed the department head that it was unfair and that he wants us to vote on the matter monday. He is seriously crazy. We have voted multiple times EVEN IN HIS PRESENCE that we wanted him fired.

Omg, that is scary. I work in an open campus setting as well. A few years ago, one of my coworker made some off handed threatening comment about our boss. He ended up getting fired for it. For months and months, I was afraid of going into work.
When you schedule the monthly meetings, is campus security willing to have reps there, either plainclothes or uniformed? I know for our campus, they are willing to be there if you know you have an appointment that makes you uncomfortable coming up or if you are expecting a student of concern (but our campus police are state police, so highly trained; not sure what their level is at your campus). That is definitely an uncomfortable situation.
