A lot of prostitution involves human trafficking. According to the DHS website,
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is responsible for investigating human trafficking, arresting traffickers and protecting victims. DHS initiates hundreds of investigations and makes numerous arrests every year, using a victim-centered approach. DHS also processes immigration relief through Continued Presence (CP), T visas, and U visas to victims of human trafficking and other designated crimes.

But this is a website of independent advertisers... I'd think it would be the least likely place for human traffickers to show up.
Also, DHS isn't saying there's human trafficking going on, and that's what spurred their action, they're relying solely on the Internet for jurisdiction.

Uhhh...traffickers are all over Backpage and Craigslist, which purport to be the same thing.
And that's all the USAO spokesperson is saying. That doesn't mean that's all there was.
If I investigate human trafficking you can bet your life savings I will investigate rentboy dot com.. It sounds like a place N A M B L A members would go to rent a small Thai boy for some fun. It isn't rentastud dot com or rentmen dot com
Then once I discover evidence of a crime I have to go in and bust it, even if it turns out to be low priority crime like adult male-male consensual sex.

yes, exactly. The traffickers were posting the ads. The OP is an escort site so the chances of prostitution are very high, which means trafficking is also likely.
