I'd like to buy a sectional. Our previous sofa was from Room and Board (the Ian?) but didn't hold up well.
Any recs for a sofa for two adults that like to lounge about and watch hours of television or engage in prodigious web surfing in a single sitting? Sofa must also tolerate a fat little pug that insists on climbing on the top back cushion of the sofa to take naps.
I'm thinking Restoration Hardware? Any other ideas?

We ordered a sofa recently from a local furniture store. It is much better trade quality to price than any of the chains stores. I don't know who buys furniture at RH, that stuff is so crazy expensive, and I don't think, the end all be all of quality. The sofa we got is from Benhardt www.bernhardt.com/products/living-room
Independent furniture stores can order from them in a variety of fabrics. I have also used my friend who is a decorator.
we went with macy's because of their 7 year protection plan for purchase. it covered construction but also accidents (candle wax, coffee, whatever). they would repair or replace if an adequate repair was not possible.
unfortunately we moved cross country after one year and gave it away for free. slightly bitter, party of one.
our current sofa is from CB2 and feels very sturdy. cannot speak to how it holds up as it's only a few days old.
Our current sofas are La-Z-Boy and have held up well for the past 5 ½ years. The only issue we've had has been from the puppy tearing it apart, which is not at all an issue with the couch I'm looking for a new sleeper sofa and think we will purchase from clubfurniture.com, but don't have any first-hand experience with them yet.
We have a Pottery Barn sofa and have been happy with it. It's 1.5 years only and holding up well. We got the extra depth and I'm glad we did. It's nice to lounge on, you can also get it as a sectional.
It's hard to beat R&B in my experience. Bummer yours didn't turn out so well. We have bought 5 couches in our 12yrs of marriage (Macy's, local store, IKEA, etc) & our (leather) R&B has held up the best.
I just realized that I was supposed to be rotating couch cushions and fliipping them and fluffing the back cushions. Apparently you're supposed to be doing that every month. I don't think I ever did that. Go figure. I feel better buying another Room and Board couch and I don't want folks to think they're stuff is no good. I'm no good (at maintaining my couch). I just thought de-dog hairing it was enough. lol
