For the last 2 (3? it's early and coffee hasn't kicked in yet) years this board has chosen a charity to donate to during the holidays. I ask for people to nominate their charity, then the board as a whole donates to that particular charity either through cash donations or physical goods. We have been able to do some amazing things in years past.
So some questions:
1. Do we want to do this again? 2. Is the format ok (nominations and then voting)? I try to make it not be a popularity contest. 3. I'm thinking of kicking off in mid-September this year just so that we're (or the person who is coordinating the charity) isn't scrambling in December. 4. Any other suggestions?
I'd love to participate again. Having my organization chosen last year 1) proves it definitely wasn't a popularity contest, so I think the voting works well and 2) was the highlight of my work year.
